“Just like home”
I stayed here in a private room with en suite bath while attending a film festival. It was just like coming home every time I left the hub-bub of Hollywood Blvd for a break or a good night’s sleep. The outdoor area is beautiful, the rooms are homey and clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, the decor and Hollywood history are charming. I’ll be back!

“This place is great to stay close by the Hollywood blvd (just around the corner). You are in the middle of all the action but great to go back and rest in a quiet, peaceful place. Breakfast is great, all you can eat waffles, tea, and coffee. The staff is super nice and helpful, they hook you up with great tours, give you tips and directions to move around the city, and have a great shuttle service to LAX. Overall not your typical hostel experience because this one just went overboard.

“Perfect Hollywood location”
I stayed here for 2 nights while in LA in a private room and it was everything I wanted, the hostel is beautiful, it’s a traditional Hollywood house and doesn’t feel like a hostel. The room was lovely, bed was comfortable, the staff were great and the hostel is literally minutes away from the Chinese Theatre and Walk of Fame. All in all if you want somewhere clean, comfortable, in a convenient location to explore Hollywood I would definitely recommend this hostel and I would stay here again if I came back to LA.– amyloui89 on TripAdvisor
“Great stay!”This was a really pretty little hostel, in amongst huge buildings and just around the corner from the walk of fame. It seemed out of place- like it should have been a gardeners cottage in Downton Abbey, not the centre of Hollywood. Great facilities, very clean, staff were lovely, free waffles were great, I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to get in the midst of the Hollywood thing. Very close to a really pretty hiking trail.

“Recommended”Excellent location, cleanliness, and service.Recently stayed for six nights sharing a private room with my 21 yo son.Hostel is an old rambling house with lots of natural light and a surprisingly laid back and quiet atmosphere. Conveniently located for Hollywood and Griffith observatory. Downtown is easily accessible on the subway whilst Santa Monica and the Getty are quite easy (bearing in mind this is LA) to reach. Have already recommended this hostel to friends and other family members.– mmahoney60 on Tripadvisor
“We loved our stay”We loved this place! Tidy, location to die for, and affordable -with super cheap parking! The reception lady was really friendly, and they also had the cutest dog at the reception 🙂 There was the best hot chocolate in common room, I still miss that… If I went back to LA, I wouldn’t even think of staying anywhere else.

“Nice hostel with great location”The environment of the hostel is warm and nice. There is also courtyard for you to enjoy sunshine. Room size is at the average. There is a small kitchen allows you to do simple cooking. Breakfast of pancake (do it yourself) is provided. The location is at the heart of Hollywood.

My roommate & I stayed at the hostel almost a year ago during our first visit to California & we loved the hostel. The staff were helpful & friendly. Our room was clean & comfortable. The hostel is in a perfect location for what we wanted to do & we’re planning to stay there again when we go back to Hollywood in February.– Amy J Wallace on Facebook
Awesome fabulous place. It just like home. Was there 2 years ago and the place and staff are as good as before. The kitchen been upgrade. Free locker service. The staff there is still as nice, wonderful, polite and forever helpful. Kudos!

This was my first hostel experience and it was good. The dorm, restrooms and showers were clean. The dorm has six bunks but I shared the room with no more than 2 other guys and it did not feel cramped. The attendants were helpful at all times and they responded quickly to my particular requests at the time I made my booking. For the price, the location is superb: main bus line, metro, supermarket, night life and attractions all within one block – and yes, you can even spot the movie stars within one block! I am sure this will be a favorite place of mine.

Its really a BOUTIQUE hostel. Total gem in Hollywood. We just needed a place to stay for few days and wow did this work out. The rooms are really clean, like some of the cleanest I’ve seen in any hotel! Nice staff and most importantly though,LOCATION. I would definitely stay here again! – Marina A. on Yelp
Stayed here a while ago- was great to get to go inside a Hollywood style mansion, stayed in a room on the top floor in the attic. Kitchen available. The hostel is just down the street from the Kodak theater and in here is the best Starbucks as you overlook the Hollywood sign. The hostel is also close to the subway station which you can take to Universal Studios and from the Greyhound Station (the Hollywood one is much closer) in LA you can take a bus to the subway and then the subway to the hostel.

We stayed in a private 4 bed room with our own ensuite for $100 a night. The room was comfortable and clean, shower lovely and we could not have asked for a better location. The only very slight draw back was we love to watch American TV and no TV in room ( but there is one in the communal area) and no pool. Not huge things to miss especially for the price and fabulous history. Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth both stayed here and I would recommend to anybody!

I’ve never written a review simply because I can never be bothered to, but this hostel deserves a lot of credit for their service. I’ve never been helped so much, all the staff are friendly. They have just done up some of their facilities, they have a gas BBQ free to use, cheap laundry, awesome outside sitting area, free pancakes in the morning all within a close proximity of Hollywood’s walk of fame. They also organise this awesome ‘club crawl’ that takes you to 4 or 5 clubs, a free drink in each club, with some real fun games, all for 20 dollars. There are other hostels that organise these crawls but for at lest 40-60 dollars….and yes I checked. Best of all, I forgot my cardigan and my shirt and they were so nice and easy to send it back to my London address after I paid for the shipping. Top guys! The Polish and Spanish women who work there are also really cute!

Close to all Hollywood Blvd activities. Great staff. Only issue was internet connectivity dropped out at times enough to frustrate. Otherwise excellent place for any one including families wanting to stay in the area, at a reasonable price.

This is the second time we stayed at the Orange Drive Hostel. Since our last stay, they added a cool outdoor patio and yard with chairs and tables and the whole place just felt great. The staff was awesome and went out of their way to help us out whenever we needed anything. I will definitely be coming back!

Within walking distance of Hollywood Boulevard, this mansion-style hostel is popular for its location and friendly staff. The 1920s remodeled home offers as much privacy as one can ask for in Hollywood. Although regular events are not planned by management, guests will never be bored while they are blocks away from Hollywood and Highland shopping, Mann’s Chinese Theater, the El Capitan and the Kodak Theater. Former guests urge travelers to consider the seven-day package deal, since it saves significant cash.

Really nice hostel in a great location
Amazing place. Was my first time staying in a hostel, and I couldn’t have found a cooler place to stay for a few nights. My friend and I loved the huge house, and it’s literally on a street right off of Hollywood Blvd. Let’s be honest, LA’s public transport kind of sucks, but this hostel is pretty close to a metro station and some bus stops. We met people from all over while staying here, and everyone was very chill and interested in us. The people working the desk were knowledgeable about where to eat and how to get around the city, and our roommates were gone for most of the day. There are lockers, they’re not huge but they can hold a backpack or at least your laptop. There’s free oatmeal, coffee, and tea which isn’t much but it was good as a quick bite before heading out. Of course, there are amazing places to go to and eat at in LA, so you shouldn’t just stay at the hostel the whole time. As far as cons, the only thing I noticed was that the rooms got pretty hot at night, even if it was cold outside. I also noticed was the construction going on in the back of the house which created some noise, but it’s understandable while they upgrade. Overall a very nice hostel, with a lot of charm.

I have stayed here twice and have loved both times! Value for money and LOCATION! Just off Hollywood boulevard so your not getting all the main road traffic and in a nice little culdesac. First time I stayed with 2 girlfriends and we had the private room with shared bathroom which was fine, we didn’t see any other guests in the bathroom the whole time! Second time I stayed with my partner for a week in the private room with ensuite. It was exactly like a hotel only in a big house!! We looked at some hotels in the area and they were all soooo over priced! The only thing it doesn’t have is a pool and A/C but we just opened windows. We were there smack bang in the middle of summer as well so didn’t have a problem with the room and heat. Great little kitchen.. we brought some cereal and milk to cut costs a little as we were at the end of our 5 week USA holiday. FYI no elevators and a few stairs so you will need to drag your luggage up stairs if your on level 2 or 3. Would really recommend this for singles, couples, friends etc. They also have a bar crawl that me and my partner did which was fun and a great way to meet a whole bunch of other people! 🙂 I have lots of photos of my trip on my blog http://www.lovepuffin.blogspot.com.au Enjoy your trip! 🙂

Location, cleaness, price and facilities!
I stayed in the hostel in early august (2013) and simply loved it!The location is perfect: right on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard, but in a calm street where you don’t have to listen to the traffic or any other noises. So you are in a peaceful place, but you also have EVERYTHING near you: brand stores, Starbucks, CVS’s, restaurants, subway, bus stop, malls, Chinese Theater, Madame Tussards, Disney Store, etc.The spaces inside the hostel was great. Our room was excellence: clean, fresh and light. The sheets were soft and clean and so the bedcover was. We also had a bathroom inside our room and it was great, even thought its door was made of glass (the door that separate the bathroom from the room). The hostel had a very complete kitchen, with everything you could imagine, and they offer pancakes and coffee for breakfast. This is great. The common space was really good either. They had comfortable sofas, tables and, again, the space was very clean and light. They also had ATM machines inside, and food machines and computers. Ah, they had free WIFI. 😀 The staff was wonderful. They were pretty receptive with us and gave us tips about where to go or what to do. They also had a list with all the main attractions of the city and how to get there by public transportation (like, take the bus X in street Y and stop in street Z). It was really useful for me that didn’t get a car to my trip. Honestly, I’ve been to many hostels in the world and this one was, so far, the best I’ve ever been. The price was good, the place, the location and the staff too. I felt so good about everything and I can tell for sure that it wouldn’t be the same with I stayed in a Hotel.
